(G)i-dle Performs at Peacock Theater
(G)i-dle
Having debuted on May 8, 2018, (G)i-dle returns to the US for their 2nd world tour!
On August 6th, girl group (G)i-dle performed at Peacock Theater in Los Angeles. The stunning performances from each member made this a night to remember! This is the second K-pop group I have ever seen live and the energy from the girls and the fans kept my spirits high! Neverland, the fan base to (G)i-dle, were well prepared with fun freebies and headbands for sale while we all patiently waited for the theater to open.
While fans were interacting with each other, many were waiting patiently in the merch line to grab some tour exclusive merch. Sadly, the US never sees any of the nicer products in these merch stalls. Posted on their socials, (G)i-dle offered so many options from hats, shirts, and exclusive photocards to light sticks and fun accessories for them. However, the US only offered the light stick, a single type of shirt, photo cards, pins, and cloth banner. I fear that the American consumer base isn’t the best and is quick to buy out merch that simply has a quick print on it. I’ve seen this issue before when I saw Blackpink live, twice.
Nonetheless, this lack of options did not spoil the show in anyway! The theater itself is spacious and well air conditioned. Because it is indoors, the summer heat was no issue and we were free to shout lyrics, dance wildly, and stand in awe without a single drop of sweat (at least from the fans… I can’t imagine the exhaustion (G)i-dle must feel putting on the amazing show they did).
The concert itself consisted of performances from their biggest hits (Queencard, Lion, Dumdi Dumdi, etc) along with cuts of prerecorded footage to allow the girls time to change and catch a breathe between sets. The theme for this concert was that of a festival, I Am Free-Ty festival! The prerecorded footage highlighted how this festival would have the same feels of any large branded festival with merch, games, photo opportunities, food, and of course spectacular stage presence. These were all for fun and to sell the theme in an imaginary festival which meant there weren’t actual food vendors or games to go to. However, these lighthearted moments really brought the groups fun loving side out to the fans!
With the many hits being played from the group, each member also did a solo act. My bias (a bias in K-pop is simply your favorite member of a group) Miyeon brough such an elegant visual alongside her powerful voice. Of course each member did amazing and the crowds were going wild!
I was so happy I got tickets to see them live and am excited to see their next world tour alongside the new music they will be performing!
